Saarina Pudi or rasam powder is very important south indian blend of spices to make rasam. Saaru- it is soothing sour, sweet, spicy soup which aids in digestion, cleansing and much more. The spices we use to make saaru/rasam is so well balanced which helps the body to keep it in balance. Powder we use to make the saaru is saarina pudi/rasam powder. Here is the recipe to malnad style powder.

Ingredients for Saarina Pudi:

  • 1 tsp oil
  • ½ cup coriander seeds(ಕೊತ್ತಂಬರಿ ಬೀಜ)
  • ¼ cup jeera(ಜೀರಿಗೆ)
  • 35 byadagi red chillies(ಬ್ಯಾಡಗಿ ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ)
  • 25 guntur red chillieಸ್(ಗುಂಟೂರು ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ)
  • ½ TBSP black pepper(ಮೆಣಸು)
  • ½ TBSP Menthya/methi seeds(ಮೆಂತ್ಯ)
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds(ಸಾಸಿವೆ)
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder(ಅರಿಶಿಣ)
  • ¼ tsp Hing/asafoetida(ಇಂಗು)
  • handful of curry leaves
