SwayamPaaka, March 17, 2026March 17, 2026

Dates Peanuts Laddu (Karjura Unde) kharjura kadlekayi unde – No Sugar, No Jaggery, No Ghee
These wholesome dates coconut peanut laddus are a perfect naturally sweet treat made without any added sugar, jaggery, ghee, or oil. The sweetness comes entirely from soft, rich dates (karjura), making them a healthy and guilt-free snack. Combined with roasted peanuts and coconut, these laddus are full of flavor, texture, and nourishment. They are quick to prepare, require minimal ingredients, and are ideal for festive treats, kids’ snacks, or everyday energy bites. If you’re looking for a traditional-style sweet with a healthy twist, this recipe is a must-try.

Ingredients:

  • 25 dates / karjura (pitted)
  • 1 cup grated dried coconut
  • 1 cup peanuts / groundnuts
  • 2 cardamoms
  • 2 cloves

Method:

  1. Dry roast the peanuts on medium heat until aromatic. Let them cool slightly, then rub and remove the skin.
  2. Grind the roasted peanuts into a coarse powder (not too fine).
  3. Add the pitted dates to the peanut mixture and pulse a few times until it comes together slightly. Do not over-grind.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a bowl. Crush the cardamom and cloves and add them to the mixture.
  5. Dry roast the grated coconut on low heat until lightly aromatic.
  6. Add half of the roasted coconut to the mixture.
  7. Slightly powder the remaining coconut and keep it aside for rolling.
  8. Combine everything well until evenly mixed.

Shape laddus:

  1. Take small portions of the mixture and shape into laddus (unde).

Coat:

  1. Roll each laddu in the powdered coconut.

Adjust if needed:

  1. If the mixture feels dry or hard to shape, add a couple more dates and mix again.
  2. Yield
  3. Makes approximately 14 laddus (unde)

Notes:

  1. These laddus are naturally sweetened with dates—no refined sugar or jaggery needed.
  2. Completely oil-free and ghee-free, yet rich and satisfying.
  3. Perfect as a healthy snack, travel food, or festive sweet.
  4. Store in an airtight container; they stay good for several days.
