Mavina hannina saasive – detailed video instructions in Kannada.

Malenadu recipes are so unique and seasonal. Now it is Mango season, you will get varieties of mangoes. We use small variety Mango to make this wonderful dish. With coconut, mustard and yogurt, the saasive/mosaru gojju/curry tastes awesome.

Ingredients mavina hannina saasive:

  • 10 mango small
  • 3/4 to 1 cup water
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp salt or salt to taste

For seasoning:

  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal

For Grinding:

  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 2 to 4 TBSP Jaggery more or less to your taste
  • 1/2 cup yougrt/curd
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds

Method:

  1. Wash and dry the mango with a towel and keep it ready.
  2. Remove the skin and keep the skin in a separate plate.
  3. Squeeze and take the pulp to a pan.
  4. Add some water and squeeze out all the pulp from both the skin and the seeds. Pour this pulp through a strainer.
  5. Add the masala to the pulp along with salt. Mix it well. If you want to add the seeds you can .
  6. Finally prepare the seasoning add it to the saasive/gojju.

To prepare the seasoning:

  1. Heat 2 tsp ghee/oil in a ladle. Once it is hot enough add mustard seeds. Once the mustard seeds pops, add the urad dal once it turns to golden brown, turn off the heat.
  2. Pour it on the Sasive. Enjoy the Mango/mavina hannina sasive with rice, roti,rotti…..
