Methi Leaves Pathrode | Menthya soppina pathrode Palya

Methi leaves Pathrode  or MENTHYA SOPPINA PATHRODE is similar to kesavina patrode. The patrode can be consumed as breakfast or as evening snack. Very healthy, delicious, and easy to make pathrode is this one . You can eat it as breakfast or side dish.

Menthya or fenugreek leaves are the healthy greens, it is good to use at least once a week.

Ingredients:

  • 1 big bunch or 1 1/2 cups of chopped methi leaves
  • ½ cup Rice
  • 1 TBSP urad dal
  • 1 TBSP chana dal
  • 1 TBSP coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ cup grated coconut
  • 2 TBSP jaggery
  • Medium Lemon size tamarind soaked in water
  • 1 TBSP salt
  • 15 Red chilli (Byadagi)
  • 1 cup water

Seasoning:

  • 2 TBSP oil
  • 1 tea spoon mustered
  • 2 TBSP urad dal
  • 10 to 15 curry leaves
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 TBSP coconut oil
  • ½ cup grated coconut

Method:

  1. Wash and soak rice, chana dal and urad dal in a pan adding 3/4 cup water for 2 to 3 hours.
  2. grind the soaked ingredients along with all the other ingredients except the ingredients under seasoning to a coarse paste ( consistency should be thicker than the dosa batter, add water accordingly).
  3. Cut the thoroughly washed menthya soppu into small pieces.
  4. Add menthya soppu to the batter and mix it well.
  5. Keep a cooker on medium flame, add 3 cup of water.
  6. Take cooker bowl keep a banana leaf and pour the batter into it. the container.
  7. If you don’t have banana leaf, apply oil to the cooker bowl and pour batter.
  8. Cover the lid and pressure cook this for 25 to 30 minutes and then turn off the heat. (don’t put the weight)
  9. To check, open the lid and wet the finger touch the cooked patrode and it should not stick to the finger.
  10. Cool it and cut into small pieces.

Seasoning :

  1. Keep a pan on medium flame, add oil.
  2. Put mustered to the hot oil, when mustard pops add urad dal, while urad dal turns gold, add cut menthya pathrode mix it well.
  3. Add turmeric powder and curry leaves. Fry for 6 to 8 minutes on low flame.
  4. Put coconut oil and grated coconut mix it well and switch off stove.
  5. Enjoy the Mentya patrode as a snack or breakfast.
