Saarina Pudi or rasam powder is very important south indian blend of spices to make rasam. Saaru- it is soothing sour, sweet, spicy soup which aids in digestion, cleansing and much more. The spices we use to make saaru/rasam is so well balanced which helps the body to keep it in balance. Powder we use to make the saaru is saarina pudi/rasam powder. Here is the recipe to malnad style powder.
Ingredients for Saarina Pudi:
- 1 tsp oil
- ½ cup coriander seeds(ಕೊತ್ತಂಬರಿ ಬೀಜ)
- ¼ cup jeera(ಜೀರಿಗೆ)
- 35 byadagi red chillies(ಬ್ಯಾಡಗಿ ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ)
- 25 guntur red chillieಸ್(ಗುಂಟೂರು ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ)
- ½ TBSP black pepper(ಮೆಣಸು)
- ½ TBSP Menthya/methi seeds(ಮೆಂತ್ಯ)
- 2 tsp mustard seeds(ಸಾಸಿವೆ)
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder(ಅರಿಶಿಣ)
- ¼ tsp Hing/asafoetida(ಇಂಗು)
- handful of curry leaves
