Nowadays Pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world. Usually pizza is made with maida or all purpose flour. Here in this recipe I have used whole wheat flour. This is vegan pizza with cashew cream cheese.
Hope you will try this vegan pizza recipe with whole wheat flour and cashew cheese.
Ingredients for making vegan pizza:
For the dough:
- 2 cup whole wheat flour
- 3/4 tsp salt or salt to taste
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup lukewarm water
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp sugar
For Pizza sauce:
- 5 tomatoes(i have taken 2 roma/apple tomatoes here)
- 1 onion
- around 4 green chilies
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- handful of basil leaves and coriander leaves
- 4 to 5 cloves of garlic
- pinch of these herbs – thyme, parsley, mixed herbs,and rosemary
- 1/2 tsp rock salt or salt to taste
Vegan Cheese:
- 12 cashews
- 3 garlic cloves
- 10 to 12 pepper
- 1/2 tbsp tapioca starch powder or maida
- juice of half lemon
Toppings: – your choice
- red, green, purple, yellow capsicum
- tomatoes
- onion
- corn
- chopped green chilies
- chopped basil
- also we need(optional)
- Chili flakes
- dried oregano
- Salt
Method:
To make the dough:
- For the warm water add sugar, yeast and olive oil. Mix it keep it aside for few minutes
- combine salt and flour in a big bowl or plate. Then add the yeast water, mix it well. Knead it for 2 to 3 minutes.
- either divide the dough into 2 to 3 equal parts or you can keep all in an oil coated pan. Make sure the dough is coated with oil as well.
- over it with a thick towel. And keep it aside @warm place for dough toc rise.(2 to 3 hours)
Making Pizza sauce:
- Cook tomatoes, onion, garlic, green chilis, basil leaves, coriander leaves, in a pan on medium heat,
- Once these are cooked add salt, and dry herbs and mix it well
- Let it cook for 10 to 15 minutes and then turn off heat, let it cool
- Then grind the sauce to a coarse paste and keep it ready
Vegan Cheese:
- Grind dry ingredients and then add 1/4 cup water, grind it to a fine consistency
- Transfer it to a pan, add water to the mixer jar add that as well
- Total 1 cup water to get this consistency (watch the video)
- Cook this on low heat until the cashew cheese thickens as shown. Then turn off the heat
- add lemon juice/lime juice . mix it and let it cool
Making the Pizza:
- Take a portion of the risen dough, form a ball, then roll it as shown.Thickness depends on your choice)
- Using a fork, poke the holes
- Pinch the edges up to create the rim
- Spread the sauce, put the vegan cheese on top
- Then place your favorite toppings
- Finally add chopped chilies, chopped basil leaves, oregano, little olive oil and sprinkle some salt
Baking pizza:
- Preheat the oven to 200ºC/395ºF.
- Place the prepared pizza in the preheated oven. Set the timer to 20 minutes
- check after 15 minutes, if it is not done keep the pizza back in the oven
- It may take around 20 minutes for the pizza to bake properly.
- Add some chili flakes, cut the pizza and serve
NOTE:
- Instead of rolling the dough you can pat the dough to the desired shape.
- Follow the same procedure with the remaining dough
- Instead of corn you can use using baby corn as well( as shown in the video
