avalakki vada avalakki vade | ಅವಲಕ್ಕಿ ವಡೆ | ಆಂಬೊಡೆ | poha vada |  gluten free snack recipes
Another easy and tasty deep fried snack is this avalakki vada or ambode. Using simple available ingredients we can prepare this snack in no time. It is a vegan and gluten free snack as well.

Ingredients for making avalakki vada:

  • 1.5 cup medium avalakki / medium poha
  • 2 tbsp kadale hittu / gram flour / besan
  • 1 tsp omam / ajwain seeds
  • 1 tsp salt or salt to taste
  • ~4 green chilies (finely chopped)
  • finely chopped coriander leaves
  • finely chopped onion and finely chopped spring onion(optional)
  • oil to fry

Method:

  1. Wash the avalakki, squeeze the water.
  2. To the washed poha add omam, green chilies, onion, salt, and mix it. Then add besan, mix it well
  3. Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat
  4. Once the oil is hot enough, take a tbsp of mix, make the ball, press it and add it to the hot oil as shown in the video
  5. Fry this until both sides turn golden brown.
  6. Once it is fried golden brown on all sides, remove the ambode using a perforated ladle onto a paper towel.
  7. Repeat the same procedure with the remaining mix.

  1. if you cannot form a ball then sprinkle little water.
  2. We can make around 20 ambodes
