Easy and tasty hasi masale huli recipe | ಮಿಶ್ರ ತರಕಾರಿಗಳ ಹುಳಿ ।Mixed vegetable sambar with  raw masala |Mixed veg sambar
Another tasty, easy to make mixed vegetable sambar with raw masala.I have used Mixed vegetables- green beans, carrots, cluster beans, kohlrabi / knol kol /peas and tomato
You can add any vegetables, or use any one vegetable or you prepare with any greens as well

Ingredients for making hasi masale huLi:

  • 3/4 cup togari bele /toor dal
  • Mixed vegetables- green beans, carrots, cluster beans, kohlrabi / knol kol /peas and tomato
  • You can add any vegetables, or use any one vegetable or you prepare with any greens as well
  • tamarind – wash and soak it in water
  • 15 curry leaves
  • finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 3 tsp rock salt or salt to taste
  • 1 tsp jaggery
  • juice of 1/4 lemon (optional)
  • ~6 cups of water

For grinding:

  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup fresh grated coconut
  • 1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
  • 8 green or red chilies

Seasoning:

  • 1 tsp cooking oil
  • pinch of hing
  • pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp jeera/cumin seeds

Method:

  1. Grind coconut, jeera, turmeric powder, coriander seeds, coconut and chilies and keep it ready
  2. wash and pressure cook the dal along with 1.5 cups of water, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and little oil on medium heat. Turn off after 3 whistles
  3. Cook the vegetables(except tomato) in a pan on medium heat along with 2 cups of water, a tsp of salt.
  4. If you want you can pressure cook this as well
  5. once the vegetables are cooked add ground masala, add some water to the jar and add that as well
  6. Add remaining salt, jaggery, tamarind extract, and mix it well. let it boil
  7. now add tomatoes, and let it boil
  8. Once the huLi starts to boil add cooked dal, add some water as well. Mix it and let it boil for few minutes
  9. Now the sambar / huli is ready. add chopped coriander leaves, and turn off the heat.squeeze the lemon juice

Seasoning:

  1. Heat the oil in a ladle on medium heat
  2. Once the oil is hot add mustard seeds, after it pops add jeera, hing and turmeric powder. Turn off the heat
  3. Add the seasoning to the huLi and mix it. Serve with rice, rotti, idli…
